Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible to play?

The contest is open to players of all provinces in Canada except Québec who have reached the age of majority in their province of residence on the date that they entered the contest. Players must have downloaded the Safeway mobile app and have registered with a valid Scene+ account.

How does the game work?

Each week throughout the duration of the contest, players will be able to select which team they think will win the game from a pre-determined list of five different NHL^® team matchups. Picks can be made each week between 12:00 AM Eastern Time on Thursday and 5:00 PM Eastern Time on Saturday - at which point the picks will become locked in for the week.

What is the schedule each week?

All NHL^® matchup options will be scheduled between Saturday to Wednesday each week. The players' unlocked offers will be tallied and loaded directly onto their app profile on the following Friday based on the performance of their picks.

What are the Monthly Challenges, and how can I score these prizes?

Monthly Challenges run throughout the full contest period. Correct weekly selections are tallied up throughout the duration of each monthly challenge period and players with the highest number of correct predictions will be placed on a leaderboard and awarded Scene+ points. The top three league leaders will each receive a monthly prize.

What are the monthly prizes?

Monthly prizes are as follows:

1^st Place receives 100,000 Scene+ points.
2^nd Place receives 45,000 Scene+ points.
3^rd Place receives 30,000 Scene+ points.

How do I become eligible for the Grand Prize Draw?

To enter one of the Grand Prize Draws, you must enroll in MY NHL^® PICKS contest on the Safeway mobile app and select the five NHL^® teams you think will win based on the five weekly matchups provided. The number of correctly predicted matchups will equate to the total number of entries received.

How many Grand Prize entries can I score?

Each player has the potential to receive a maximum of five Grand Prize entries per week during each phase of the contest.

How long is the contest period, and how many phases are there?

The contest runs from 12:00 AM Eastern Time on Thursday, October 26^th, 2023, to 11:59 PM Eastern Time on Wednesday, April 17^th, 2024, and consists of three phases:

Phase 1: October 26th, 2023 – December 6th, 2023
Phase 2: December 7th, 2023 – February 14th, 2024
Phase 3: February 15th, 2024 – April 17th, 2024

What is the Grand Prize for the current phase?

You could win a trip for four to watch the NHL® season-opening match-up of your choice for the 2024-25 season. This trip would include flights, hotel accommodations and spending money to ensure you and your family have an amazing hockey getaway.

What is the draw date for the Grand Prize?

Phase 3 Draw Date: April 24th, 2024

What happens if I win a Grand Prize?

If you win a Grand Prize, you will be contacted within fourteen business days following the draw date using the contact information that was provided during your entry.

What are my odds of winning?

The odds of scoring a Grand Prize depend on the total number of eligible Entries received and correct Weekly Selections made during each Phase throughout the Full Contest Period.

Who can I contact if I have more questions regarding the contest?

What if there is a tie for a top 3 monthly finish?

In the event of a draw between the top three Users on the Winners Leader Board, where there are two (2) or more Users with the same score, a Safeway or Sobeys representative will conduct a random draw to declare the first, second, and third place winner on the Winners Leader Board.
